Due to promotion they are now looking for a suitable Semi Senior Accountant from a practice background to join their current team. The Accounts and Audit teams are primarily concerned with preparing year end accounts and tax returns and completing audit assignments for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and LLPs.
The company provide a full range of services, including accountancy, audit, business planning, company secretarial, corporate tax, personal tax, outsourcing solutions, specialist tax and corporate finance.
Previous experience of at least 12 months in accounts preparation, bookkeeping or VAT returns and the use of Sage 50 preferably in a practice environment is required. After an initial grounding which will involve exposure to a number of aspects of the accounts production process, the role will enable you to develop by broadening your experience of a variety of business types (sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and LLPs), and more complex assignments.
Ideally you will have good experience of preparing statutory year end accounts, ideally using an accounting software package, such as IRIS, along with preparing supporting working papers in a paper-based or electronic format.
Initially the majority of assignments would be relatively straightforward accounts preparation jobs, however over time, you would be involved to some of our more specialist clients, and the assignments would gain in complexity.
You will need to be proficient in the use of Sage Line 50, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Reporting to the Senior Accounts Manager, the role will primarily involve preparing statutory financial statements and supporting working papers, including reconciliations where necessary, for all types of businesses. The core records from which accounts will be prepared will vary, from fully reconciled management accounts, to excel based summaries of income and expenditure.
There will also be an opportunity to become involved in audit and assurance work for our portfolio of audit clients. Exposure would depend on the level of prior experience. The role will also include a variety of other accounts related tasks and may involve some time assisting the outsourcing team with bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts as required.
The split of work would be roughly 85% accounts preparation, 10% audit, 5% other.
Training will be given to use our electronic working papers, however you will need to be able to adapt your existing skills to complete the work.
It is essential that after a brief initial training period, you are able to work confidently and independently to accurately complete accounts assignments in a time-pressured environment, for review by the Accounts Manager or Senior Manager.
With good communication skills, you will be highly motivated and able to work well either on your own or as part of a team.
We will expect you to have a minimum of 1 years work experience within an Accounts or Business Services Department.
You will need to have a full, clean driving licence and car. Free parking is available on site.
