Job Specification

Our client is a growing, dynamic and progressive firm of Accountants based on the Surrey / Hampshire borders. Due to the continued success and growth of the company, they are looking to recruit an experienced bookkeeper to join their Farnham office. You will join and support a skilled team in the outsourcing department.

The role

Working as part of a small team, you will undertake bookkeeping and VAT returns for a variety of clients. You will also be involved in the preparation of management accounts for certain clients. This is often a process driven role and requires someone who understands and can work in this manner.

You will have a number of clients allocated to you, who you will liaise directly with, as well as undertaking some tasks as assigned by the Outsourcing Solutions Manager.

Although the majority of work will be office based, some of the work will be undertaken on clients’ sites.

You

It is essential that the person is able to work independently with little assistance. You will be confident dealing with clients and able to answer questions whilst on site. However, you will also know when it is necessary to pass questions back to the Outsourcing Solutions manager or partner.

Ideally, you will be AAT or ACCA part qualified and previous bookkeeping experience is essential - you will be comfortable completing accounts using Sage Line 50 to trial balance, including reconciling bank and other control accounts, posting journals and preparing VAT returns. Knowledge of IRIS software would be helpful but not essential.

Our clients are our greatest resource, with over 95% of new business being generated from their recommendations. As such it is crucial that the person has good communication skills and will provide a friendly and professional service to clients.

Due to business location and as travel to clients’ premises is involved in the role, it is essential you are a car driver / car owner. Free parking is available on site.

Salary will be based on 37.5 hours / 5 days per week.

There is a basic 20 working days holiday per annum in addition to the usual public holidays. Holiday entitlement is increased by 1 day per year for each year worked at the firm, up to a maximum of 25 days holiday per annum.
